Meet the Team

XiuLing Guo

Chief Executive Officer

XiuLing Guo is a distinguished leader in the food industry, with over two decades of experience in the global ingredients and quick service restaurant (QSR) sectors. She was most recently the Managing Director of Cargill’s Global Edible Oil Solutions Business in Asia, where she oversaw over 55 markets across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Latin America. Prior to joining Cargill, she served as the Supply Chain Director at Yum!, where she supported the business’ expansion plans in China. With a passion for creating positive impact, XiuLing currently works with her alma mater, Tongji University, as the Founding Partner and Industry Advisor to its accelerator programme. The programme aims to solve global sustainability challenges by connecting top-tier scientific minds, entrepreneurs, early-stage investors and global corporations. XiuLing holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tongji University, a master diploma in financial strategy from University of Oxford Said Business School and is certified by INSEAD as an independent board director.

Alina Boey

Chief of Staff

Alina has more than 20 years of professional experience in corporate, media and market communications, government affairs, and consultancy working for diverse industries, ranging from brewery, aerospace, transport, foods and pharmaceuticals. Her career journey encompasses companies such as Asia Pacific Breweries, SMRT, Lockheed Martin, Cargill and GlaxoSmithKline. Her responsibilities in her new role include corporate communications, government affairs and public policy, employee engagement, capability building and business partnering to the Nurasa leadership team. Alina’s own personal health journey has led her to believe passionately that food is medicine, and that sustainable healthy foods are the pathways to a wholesome and holistic life.

Jolene Lum

Head of Business Development

Jolene is the food start-ups’ go-to for collaborations,  on how to leverage Nurasa’s Food Tech Innovation Centre (FTIC), and on how food businesses can benefit from Nurasa’s end-to-end solutions for scale-up manufacturing and go-to-market support. She champions the development and growth of the ecosystem base for the FTIC and leads the development of new or complementary business opportunities for Nurasa. Jolene was previously an agtech venture builder, as well as serving as Founder & CEO of Urban Tiller, where she connected viable urban farming with hyper local supply chains. She also co-built and ran a Singapore insect farming enterprise for sustainable animal feeds and helped to create one of Asia’s first mycelium alternative protein start-ups. She received her Bachelor’s in Chemistry (Physical Science) and Comparative Literature from Yale-NUS College.

Chee How Chua

Head of Finance

A highly seasoned Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia, Chee How is an all-around financial leader with deep business partnering skills to plan and execute growth strategies for fast-growing corporations in line with long-term sustainability. As Head of Finance for Nurasa, he is responsible for compliance and regulation, risk management, due diligence, financial reporting (IFRS and SFRS), and other fiduciary duties. He has extensive experience in finance transformation, M&A, international JV and IPO, combined with execution and management know-how to ensure business continuity, direction and value realisation. His career journey over the past twenty years has encompassed renowned companies among multinational corporations, as well as among start-ups. Chee How received his Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

David Cheng

Head of the Food Tech Innovation Centre [FTIC]

David leads the FTIC team in delivering facility operational excellence and best-in-class safety standards. His responsibilities also include overseeing business development and community engagement for the FTIC ecosystem. A keen believer in innovation and collaboration, David received his Bachelor of Applied Science in Food Science and Technology from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University.

Sukhi Wei

Strategic Project Manager

Sukhi oversees strategic projects at Nurasa. Armed with a First Class Honours degree in Economics from the University College London, Sukhi brings a wealth of experience from her tenure at Boston Consulting Group and her ventures into sustainable startups, to the team. Prior to her current role at Nurasa, Sukhi founded her own sustainable durian brand with smallholder farmers and was a co-founder and co-CEO of Algrow Biosciences, a sustainable proteins startup. Her passion for connecting people extends from the boardroom to the dinner table, where she loves to bond over food and fitness pursuits.

Mariani Maihadani

Office Manager

Nurasa’s Office Manager and HR Support Lead Maria is the proverbial glue that holds the team together. An Agile Certified Professional and Certified Scrum Master, she is a highly dedicated and experienced master in running offices and workflows for C-suite individuals and teams and balancing multiple workstreams. She has gathered extensive office managerial experience from previous roles in Temasek as well as for companies in the aquaculture, luxury fashion brands, beauty and cosmetics industries.

Pradeep Pant

President, Pant Consulting / Chairman of the Board of Directors, Nurasa

A highly experienced senior business leader with over 37 years of experience in the FMCG industry, Pradeep is an expert in building businesses in both mature and emerging markets. He has managed a wide range of iconic brands, including those from Mondelēz International, Fonterra, Nestle, to name a few, across some of the world’s fastest-growing and complex emerging markets including China, India, Russia, Turkey, Middle East and ASEAN as well as developed markets like ANZ, Japan, Korea. Pradeep is the Founding President of Food Industry Asia (FIA) and now serves as Honorary Advisor to the Council. He sits on the Supervisory Boards of Royal DSM N.V. Netherlands, Max Life Insurance Company India, Niva BUPA Health Insurance India, Max India and Antara Senior Living India.

Angeline Ooi

Founder, Managing Director of SBR Strategic

Angeline is an experienced senior business leader with deep expertise in the food and agriculture industry, particularly in Asia. She is skilled in building profitable businesses by having a clear strategic vision, developing strong teams and growing both organically as well as through acquisitions and strategic partnerships.

Besides sitting on the board for Nurasa and Oatside, Angeline is also currently the Founder and Managing Director of SBR Strategic Pte Ltd., where she provides business advisory services to business owners and investment managers in the food and agriculture industry. With her ability to provide strategic guidance and access to senior talent for clients, she has raised equity financing from private equity funds and strategic investors for large privately-owned businesses.

Anuj Maheshwari

Managing Director, Agribusiness, Middle East & Africa, Temasek

Anuj is the Managing Director and Head of Agri-Food at Temasek. In 2013, he founded a team that helps innovative Agri-Food companies unlock their potential while making a difference in the world by offering sustainable solutions and delivering better diets. With over US$8bn invested since its inception, Temasek’s Agri-Food portfolio consists of many market leading and innovative companies and includes over 25+ breakthrough and disruptive start-ups – of which eight are unicorns.

Anuj holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, and an MBA from Harvard Business School where he graduated with Distinction.

Jeffrey Siow

Managing Director & Chief Operating Officer, Enterprise Singapore

Jeffrey leads Enterprise Singapore in working with committed companies to build capabilities, innovate and internationalise, supporting Singapore’s growth as a hub for global trading and start-ups. Prior to his current appointment, Jeffrey was Principal Private Secretary to Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. He has also served in other capacities at the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Manpower, the Prime Minister’s Office, and Ministry of Education. Jeffrey graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan Fellows Program with an MBA. He also holds a BA in Economics & Government and a BSc in Urban & Regional Studies from Cornell University.

Dr. Beh Swan Gin

Permanent Secretary (Development), Ministry of Trade & Industry

Dr Beh was appointed as the Permanent Secretary (Development) at the Ministry of Trade and Industry on 1 May 2023.

He was Chairman of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) from 1 December 2014 to 30 April 2023, and chaired the Board of Directors of EDBI. Prior to that, he was Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Law from 1 July 2012 to 30 November 2014.

Dr Beh joined EDB in November 1992 and held various portfolios over the years. He held concurrent appointments as the Executive Director of the Biomedical Research Council at the Agency for Science, Technology & Research, as well as the Director of the Ministry of Trade & Industry’s Energy Planning Division. He was Managing Director of EDB from 1 August 2008 to 30 June 2012 before his appointment at the Ministry of Law.

Dr Beh is a medical doctor by training and graduated from the National University of Singapore. He is a Sloan Fellow with a Master of Science in Management from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and completed the Advanced Management Programme at the Harvard Business School.

He is a Board Director and chairs the Nominating & Governance Committee for Singapore Exchange Limited, and also chairs the board of CapitaLand Ascendas REIT Management Limited. In addition, he is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organisation.

Yeoh Keat Chuan

Chief Executive Officer, Temus

Yeoh Keat Chuan (KC) is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Temus, a global digital transformation solutions company, which is majority owned by Temasek International. KC is on secondment to Temus from Temasek. He has served as interim CEO of Ensign Infosecurity, the leading pure play cybersecurity company in Singapore, and was Deputy Head of Enterprise Development Group (EDG) at Temasek. KC was previously Managing Director of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), the lead agency in the Singapore government for industry development and investment promotion.

 

 

 

 

Kenneth Chan

Kenneth Chan is a seasoned  Organisation Leader with over 30 years of hands-on experience in Fortune 500 consumer and retail multinational companies such as McDonald’s, PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble and Singapore Airlines. Most recently from 2016 to 2021, Kenneth was an equity and operating partner of the Lionhorn Group [a McDonald’s licensee) for McDonald’s Singapore and Malaysia, as well as serving as Managing Director of McDonald’s Singapore. He helmed McDonald’s China as Chief Executive Officer, and as Division President for the Greater China region between 2009 to 2015. Prior to China, Kenneth headed McDonald’s Singapore as its Managing Director from 2004 to 2008 while having simultaneous regional responsibilities for Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia. Kenneth began his career journey in International Relations with Singapore Airlines and went on to assume regional and in-market brand positions for PepsiCo International and Procter & Gamble. Apart from his executive coaching and mentoring roles, he currently serves on the boards of Singapore Power Services and SaladStop and is as an advisor to The Live Green Co.

David Cheng

Head of the Food Tech Innovation Centre [FTIC]

David leads the FTIC team in delivering facility operational excellence and best-in-class safety standards. His responsibilities also include overseeing business development and community engagement for the FTIC ecosystem. A keen believer in innovation and collaboration, David received his Bachelor of Applied Science in Food Science and Technology from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University.

Andrew Chee

Programme Manager

A project management whiz who stays cool and calm under pressure, Andrew is adept at managing multiple workstreams. He supports overall FTIC operations and ecosystem programmes, and contributes to business development initiatives.
Andrew graduated with a merit Diploma in Digital and Precision Engineering from Nanyang Polytechnic Singapore and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Project Management from Heriot Watt University Edinburgh in the UK.

Howard Chong

Senior Facility Engineer

A seasoned facilities building engineer with more than two decades of experience under his belt, Howard is recognised for his core competencies in maintaining facilities systems and energy conservation efforts. Howard is a Certified Energy Manager with the Institute of Engineers in Singapore. He received his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Singapore Polytechnic and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.

Shawn Ong

Safety Executive

Shawn’s mission at FTIC is all about overall safety, quality assurance and control. Armed with nearly a decade of experience in quality assurance and compliance in the food and logistics industries, he possesses a deep knowledge of food safety systems certification, food safety management system standards, and regulatory safety compliance requirements. An avid fitness enthusiast, Shawn graduated with a Bachelor of Science honours degree in Food Science from the University of Malaysia, Sabah.

Joni Tan

Laboratory in Charge

An experienced senior laboratory technician, food technologist and nutritionist, Joni is the go-to person at FTIC for food tech start-ups and businesses as they embark on lab-scale product development. Whether clients require bench-scale food analysis or seek fit-for-purpose laboratory equipment, Joni supports with meticulous care, quality and characteristic professionalism. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Western Australia; she also possesses a Diploma in Food Science and Technology from Singapore Polytechnic and a Specialist Diploma in Nutrition Science from Nanyang Polytechnic.

Kumar Nadarajan

Logistics Executive

Kumar’s experience in the logistics and supply chain sector spans almost two decades. At FTIC, he is passionate about the importance of utilising rightful IT solutions and logistics management methodologies to strategise and operationalise process improvements. Kumar received his Bachelor of Arts honours degree in Logistics & Supply Chain Management from Northumbria University in Newcastle in the UK and his Diploma in Logistics Management from Curtin University of Technology in Singapore.

Zhao Da Zhong

Maintenance Technician/ Safety Advisor

Safety is of paramount importance at FTIC and Da Zhong certainly takes his Workplace Safety and Health guidelines very seriously. He has garnered nearly three decades of senior leadership experience in facility and safety management  systems across diverse industries such as construction, chemicals, life sciences, electrical installation, semiconductor and high-tech manufacturing. Da Zhong obtained his WSQ Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety & Health from Singapore Polytechnic and his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Water Supply & Sewerage Engineering Discipline and Environmental Engineering from Xian University of Architecture and Technology, China.

Chee Yee Chen

Maintenance Technician

With a proven safety track record in facilities management spanning over two decades, it is no wonder that Chee’s approach to preventive maintenance is characterised by zeal and precision. Always mindful of the value and life cycle of a facility’s assets, he patiently accomplishes his daily checks for the FTIC’s operational equipment for any early fault detection.

Nur Amira Noor

Community Concierge

Amira’s warm, cheerful smile is the first thing to welcome all visitors to the FTIC. A highly organised and frighteningly efficient multi-tasker, she relishes caring for the needs of the FTIC community. Amira’s previous hands-on background in customer service, co-working communities and office administration is serving her well in her role as a community builder at FTIC. She obtained her Diploma in Business Applications from Republic Polytechnic in Singapore.
